Why have the #media suddenly dropped #disinfo from their vocabulary?
Strategic lies are disinfo, period.
To characterize the strategic lies Musk/Trump et al spread abt eg #CAwildfires designed to advance their agenda as "misinfo" is disingenuous in the extreme & itself constitutes disinfo.
If you can call it a lie, it's disinfo. Don't say "misinfo."

There is a distinction to be made, tho:
#Misinformation is not necessarily a lie - it can be simply a mistake or wrong information innocently or naïvely passed on in good faith.
#Disinformation, on the other hand, is always a lie - an intentional untruth designed to deceive and distort perceptions in the service of a nefarious purpose.
It is important to make the distinction.
