@Edelruth oh we have definitely taken some massive Ls particularly where trans rights are concerned. But we are also racking up some Ws. And that's what this post was about. We have a long long way to go still. And it's going to be tough. Not all of us are going to make it. But that doesn't mean the fight isn't worth fighting. They want us to give up. Don't.
in reply to Edelruth, PBS Passport Holder

@Edelruth A federal appeals court ruled today that schools can allow kids to socially transition without telling their parents. Even a Trump appointee concurred, although he snuck in some little "it's immoral, but we deal in laws, not morals" type jabs.

It's small, but it's something that my partner and I felt tangible physical relief at hearing.

Let's keep it up. Continue to check congress.gov and talk about the issues.

Don't forget that Sat 3/15 is #TheIdesOfTrump where postcards will be sent to let the White House know our displeasure. There's a whole campaign.

And you should see the shelves in Canada right now. The LCBO (provincial liquor store) has been completely reconfigured so that there's no American product anywhere. It's like the USA doesn't market any alcohol.

Grocery stores have full shelves of American products and produce that no one's touching, and anything Canadian or European is selling like crazy. It's an unreal retail experience. Unreal. #Never51 #ElbowsUp

Thank you for encouraging us! I've been feeling so ineffectual. I'm working two jobs, then doing a school pickup and babysitting. So I can't go out to protests, or take any other similar action. All I can do is just writing and phoning representatives who don't respond. I feel like I'm useless.

If we feel this worn out after a couple of months, how do we keep going for years and years, and still get through our daily regular lives? People yelling that I'm not doing nearly enough, and others yelling that nothing I do will have any effect anyway, are breaking me. People like you, saying "Steady on, what you're doing is helping, just hold on and keep doing it," that's the kind of thing that puts a second wind into us, enough to keep going a bit more, then a bit more.

@CommonSparrow We know doing nothing will get us nothing. So you do what you can. We all have our parts to play ❀️ You are fine. A choir can hold a note for a unbelievable length of time because people drop out and take breaths while others continue. That is how we keep going, everyone doing as much as they can whenever they can.

FYI. In BC, Canada we give rebates to electricity usage for charging your electric car.
Starting today, Teslas are not eligible for the rebate.

Tesla have leased a parking lot near me to deal with people not picking up their orders (people have lost their deposit). In this parking lot are roughly 30 cyber trucks and 50 other Tesla cars. [citation needed for reason, this is the current understanding of people who live nearby]

We need to show up for Federal Workers with a general strike, which will shut down this shit real fast. Read up on the hashtag #GeneralStrike, and this toot about a general strike getting the goods

kolektiva.social/@MikeDunnAuth…

Today in Labor History March 13, 1920: The Kapp Putsch attempted to overthrow the new German republic. While the government officials fled, workers launched a General Strike and refused to cooperate with the nationalists and royalists behind the coup attempt. The General Strike effectively ended the right-wing assault on the republic. However, it also inspired even more radical actions by the workers, including the Communist Ruhr Uprising, which lasted from March 13 through April 12. The government utilized the right-wing Freikorps to suppress the uprising, killing over 1,000 workers.

I heard on a podcast that a judge ruled that DOGE is required to answer FOIA requests. I may request all the information they have collected about me from other agencies.

They may not comply, but maybe they'll be forced to spend time dealing with it.

not to forget:
You are not alone in the world either.

I've canceled my Amazon prime account to join the boycott.
Also I'm encouraging people to end their dependency on oligarch/techbro based systems.

Many people are doing the same.

Let us stand up against oligarchs wherever they try to manipulate and exploit us!

Here is a guide (in german) that i share with people:

(Foreword: I hate Elon and all that he touches.)

I'd love 1. to be unquestionably true, but for now the Tesla stock has just gone back to where it was before the elections (and it had been wiggling around that trend for roughly two years). The anomaly might be the surge between Nov. and now: we'll have to see if it keeps tanking to draw those juicy conclusions.

But yes, keep up the fight, Americans. The mistake from November can't be undone, but resistance certainly can make it go from apocalyptic to just really bad.

@karl Correct re price before election but the rise and then slump underscores the hatred of even investors of muskolini. Hopefully, it will sink further.

I hear you, the problem is getting out the vote. The situation America's in is because voters most impacted by these policies didn't show up to vote. Was it on their agenda, it wasn't their priority? How do we get this group of individuals voting? We know who's voting? How do we get non-voters participating?

Remember that this administration came to power with the support of less than one third of the American voting population.

More than two thirds either voted differently, didn't vote or had their ballots disqualified.

The world is watching and every day brings another jaw dropping fiasco.

You are making a difference. This insanity can only last for so long. Keep the pressure on.

At least the USA has some excellent media comedians who get good airtime to poke fun at Trump & his legions.
The UK has β€˜Have I got News for You’ & occasionally Frankie Boyle but a media in the pockets of Westminster &/or nondom billionaires.
At least we can bask in the warm glow of seeing our print media lose customers by the thousands.

Over here in Germany, anti-fascist mass protests, extending beyond fascist AfD to protests including the ever more right-wing CDU/CSU, made the CDU/CSU so angry, they had the audacity to ask the government for possible involvement and potential financing of completely independent organisations organizing or backing those protests, showing they have no idea how they can possibly have the voter support they get while still facing broad and vocal opposition on the streets.
