Fascism isn't sustainable, at least not how Trump and Elon are doing it. I'm not saying this in a Pollyanna toxic positivity way, that's just looking at facts. It's ugly, and it will be uglier. We have a bunch of people who have no idea run a government facing a food crisis, a recession, several possible epidemics, and, of course, the undeniable climate crisis. That's the short list. The question is how do we stop as much suffering as possible. Not will Trump be stopped, but how quickly can it be done.

It's a weird situation where they want to tear down, but the playbook calls for spinning up "free market" replacements for the "revenue generating" parts. While trashing existing supply chains.
It cannot end well, barstool economists at their entitled worst.

We should all refresh our memories on the idea of "unintended consequences"

I mean I usually say don't attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity, but in this case it's BOTH

Certainly a lot has been stopped with the legal filings against some of the actions, but if Congress allows the current administration to ignore or even semi-ignore the court orders it's going to be a long 3+ years.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Elon & Trump are overreaching. As soon as social security breaks we’ll see a real uprising.

Hell hath no fury like a gang of gullible nitwits who finally, at long, painful last, figure out that the Leopards Eating Faces Party really never gave a shit about them, was always merely exploiting them, and is happily going to eat THEIR faces.

Social Security was already broken to give tax cuts to the wealthy. They will just keep blaming the Democrats.

My biggest fear is that a substantial chunk of our feeble minded fellow citizens are just as likely to believe him when he starts to blame the Trans community for high prices and take up arms.

@ScotttSee Some probably will, but I also don't want to be in the everyone is stupid and can't understand what is happening camp, I do think people are starting to see, not everyone, but some.

'Tis said that although history doesn't repeat itself, it often rhymes.

Fascism needs more than voting and demonstrations to be taken down once it has gotten hold of powers. At least that is what history suggests. Fascism will drag anything down with it and never surrender - it needs to die to make way for something better 😷

it can't be emphasized enough that the idea of ruthlessly efficient fascists as depicted in fiction is just repeating their own propaganda

historically these guys have been very destructive but not actually good policy makers

how long was Stalin in power? Or chairman Mao? How sustainable were their policies? It takes quite a bit of authoritarian control to remain in power with unsustainable policies, so the important thing is to act before they gather enough power to just disappear people who object.

Been meaning to look up to see how many of these Republicans can be voted out in 2026. Now is when people need to start being vocal about removing them.

"undeniable climate crisis" and yet, they're denying it.

My personal opinion is we might already be too late for a general strike. Maybe not but it doesn't seem to matter because we can't seem to organize one.

That leaves two things:

1. Allow the weakest to die while everyone else suffers
2. Revolution. Storm the Bastille

That's my humble opinion. Super duper cheerful stuff, I know 😁

They need to treat several members of that administration like a school shooter.

sorry, it IS sustainable to the last working person generating the last dollar for "the wisest leader of all". #egypt has been in this vicious circle for over 70 years recently, or 1000s if you consider the way things run for older "government styles". fascism doesn't care about healthy population or even wealth-generating. so yes, epidemics and recessions are inevitable, but "... have you seen how he kicked the asses of those radical left weirdos" (that's the logic of fascistees)

and other #toxicIdealism #psyop

these are not organic voices

they will trumpet their #leftism bonafides like Russian #trolls on Twitter with #MAGA flags but they are #agentProvocateur divide and conquer

don't get me wrong:

yes, the Democrats suck

but if you don't see the choice?

oof 🤦

Great work in disinformation bashing there. Kudos.

There is also my personal favorite:

“Here is a horrible thing Republicans do and why you should be angry at the Democrats about it.”
