The Russian Federation should be abolished and sovereignty returned to individual oblasts and republics, so that governments can better represent their people.

The United States should be abolished and sovereignty returned to individual states, so that governments can better represent their people.

Support independent journalism in your countries, vote in elections, have the courage to speak out against populists who promise simple solutions to complex problems

They mean that corporate overlords have only small countries to deal with.

It's much easier to bully small countries, that literally are smaller in all relevant metrics than the corporations that are doing the bullying.

Sorry as a citizen of a small country who has lived there before we joined the EU, I think I'll pass on that future.

who deserves a missile strike more, a miscellaneous fishing boat netting at night like people have done for a thousand years, or the loudest billionaire.

Nobody earns a billion dollars. They under paid hundreds of thousands and used monopoly influence to leverage money from millions of customers by limiting choices.

Well, I don't think the concept is "Trying everything and seeing what sticks is not", but I agree it looks like that.
To be fair, he had a long run of rockets without incident, but that has stopped and now it looks almost randomly if a rocket returns like expected, especially the large rockets.
I think his leadership concerning time-pressure and the available staff might play an important role in the failures, and critics are silenced or fired.

@reiddragon
Actually I don't think so. That's literally what the r right wing libertarians more or less want, a completely castrated federal government. What is exactly what project 2025 is about.
What DOGE was about.

Because again dealing with the individual states, especially if they have to compete against each other, it's way easier.

@yacc143 only while Democrats are in power so Republican-ran states can do their bullshit, but now that Republicans are in charge of the federal government, they're violating the authority of states all the time, sending ICE and the national guard all over the place to seize control of places ran by democrats that aren't cooperating doing the fascism

@reiddragon @yacc143 seconding this - nobody in the US (aside from Libertariens maybe) wants a small government. When the GOP says they want to reduce the size of government, they mean specifically austerity and the ending of social welfare programs. But they're very happy to have a very large police state to enact their own right-wing agenda.

@alessandro everyone willingly joins the EU and has to put in the work and can leave at any time if desired, and also the EU can't override decisions taken by local governments (the only lever the EU parliament and associated institutions have to influence local decisions is by suspending access to EU funds), meanwhile in the US there's Trump either threatening to or actually sending troops to states not aligned with his agenda (and then in Russia the federation bit is more of a formality, with Putin and those close to him being basically gods within the country)

in reply to tessarakt

@tessarakt @reiddragon @alessandro Of course it does. It's collectively agreed. The choice for member states is to enjoy the narcissism of small differences and weakness in dealing with large economic blocs or the strength of solidarity at the expense of some compromises. The UK has been on its knees since it left and just hasn't faced up to it yet: 6-8% decline in GDP, and Brexiters routinely can't point to any EU regulations they're glad to rid of.

Interviewed on Irish radio during Trump's first term his appointed representative to Northern Ireland, Mick Mulvaney (R, Lickspittle), was asked why Trump hated the EU. He responded that it was, in effect, because it gave smaller countries the ability to stand up to the US.

He could "get better deals" if it wasn't for the EU.

That is, the US could bully them all

We needn't worry what they think. The EU will long outlast the current GOP "moronocracy" as Michael Wolff has called it.

Obscenely wealthy feudal lord demands body countries elected and chose to join be abolished so the countries can chose for themselves is quite the take. Here's another - Elon Musk should give away all his wealth, take a vow of silence, and go study history and the humanities, because that actually will give him the sovereignty over his colonial/colonised apartheid mind he's always craved but never consciously comprehended.
in reply to European News πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

idiots like him and his ex buddy FOTUS are only dangerous, because we entertain their ideas. Everything about Musk is idiocracy but because he is loud & proud ppl believe him & throw their money at him - latest example is Tesla. Now why would you let someone like him suggest political ideas? By now his motives should be clear: he is personally making cash with the X scams/phishing & nothing would make life easier for RUS if the EU was gone. The EU is the only power standing in RUS way.
