bluesky has 26 investors, and ~36M in investment, according to crunchbase.
it would be *TRIVIAL* for someone like musk to just offer all of them 10x their investment on the spot, take over as the sole owner/investor, and all the old investors would walk away happy

in reply to wwew • • •@wwew because it looks and feels just like old twitter and there werent droves of nerds screaming at the normies about how to post and scolding them when they didnt use alt text or content warnings. its a major turn off to new users to get an abrasive, upsetting experience. then all those people told their friends, and it started a cascade. people actively avoided mastodon.
then they started getting celebs. then at that point people forgot mastodon existed

I never understood how bsky marketed itself as decentralized social media, having come from Mastodon and actually knowing what that could really look like.
Like, I get how... but it's weak.

they just havent done it yet.
