The handful of you who also follow my gardening account @PermaSolarPotter know that I’ve begun #spinning native cotton. I love plants in the hibiscus family and was given permission to gather some seeds from a plant at the community garden last spring. I started off spinning the fiber with a pencil and then got my neighbor to make me a spindle from scrap wood. The two ceramic whorls I made just came out of the kiln and my neighbor fashioned some dowels to fit them. #FiberArts

in reply to Pottery by Osa • • •oh my! You just became my favourite potter! I was so fascinated to look at the massive variety of whorls displayed at historic museums in danmark of viking and bronze age. And I knew I could make some, but I'm not equipped for pottery.
What you and your neighbour did, is just so beautiful.
And you got the seeds from a community garden. This little post of yours just gives me so much happiness.
