Today, we remember all the victims murdered during the Holocaust, and we stand with those who survived.

We also mark the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

This dark memory must be passed to future generations.

Never again.

You don't GAF about human rights, international law or genocide.

sharing a memory that doesn't inspire action is merely posturing.

EU is currently in violation of international law on this specific topic. Get your act together.

@MurrayWindripper Both of you afraid to write that it was the Red Army, right? Because if it was on the hands of the rest, they would cover the crime. They collaborated with the nazi bastards after the "victory" in many fields.
Eg. Martin Schleyer or the scientists of the holocaust being hired by the USA in key positions (then being send to latin America to support the coups of the imperium). To cover another one (the cover of THIS crime) would not be a problem for them.
PS. Just wondering why all of your posts are answers under the posts of

@prolrage
You could have imparted your superior knowledge in your previous reply. Instead you chose to ask a snarky question that did nothing to inform anyone.
That left me to research the answer myself. Wickold Pilecki allowed himself to be captured and interred in Aushwitz where he was able to report on and smuggle out information about what was going on in the camp. It's true that Western allies chose to suppress that information.

You also seem to be under the misapprehension that it was only the west that used the expertise of nazi scientists after WW2. I suppose you haven't heard of Operation Osoaviakhim in 1946 that transported several thousand scientists, engineers and their families from Soviet occupied Germany to USSR.

"Never again" would mean
never again (complicity in) genocide,
never again camps,
never again dehumanising & discrimination.

"never again" means to fight against all those who are committing genocide,
Action against those who are building camps, who are committing war crimes, discriminating or dehumanizing. You are doing the opposite.

Your post is hypocrisy.

My maternal grandparents were rescued by the Soviet Union's Red Army when it liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau. The allied forces knew since 1943 about what A-B was, where it was located, the train lines going to it. But Allied command never saw fit to disrupt the big murder in 1943. It fell to the Red Army to finally save Jewish lives. The liberation of Auschwitz youtube.com/watch?v=p3TYsR3oDZ…

It would also be nice to return family stuff that is still being held by the camp museum, despite promises of return. They promised for years, but nothing changed and families are still waiting for the return of their loved ones' mementos. How much longer will this take? Museum makes money off someone else's property, regardless of the fact that belongings should return home. It is a shame and disgrace for the Polish government that it does not keep its promises!

Let us also not forget the liberators.
The camp was liberated on January 27, 1945, by soldiers of the 60th Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front of the Soviet Red Army.
Let me remind you that the Soviet Union lost 27 million lives in liberating the World from European fascism.

How about stop paying Libya (or what's left of the state) for slave trade and overall violence that keeps migrants away?

After long debates and protests by Dutch government and the Lower House finally Dutch government gave in and allowed three (!!!) very sick Palestinian children from Gaza to be taken care of in Dutch hospitals.

It shows where the priorities of this government are.

- Folks in the US need not only look at the past, but no further then at their current situation.
While the scale of deaths nowhere near back then (yet - but one death too many), the rounding up of those being seen as different and blamed for what are actual failures of government, sent to concentration camps with no sign of judicial process…

To remember or not to remember is the topic of this new doc, "Commandant's Shadow" 2024

The son of #rudolfhöss the commandant of #Auschwitz, finally reads parts of his father's autobiography. Then _his_ son asked why he never even knew about this book

Women getting ready to enter the gas chamber with young children, they known this is the place to die. One tries to push her kid out when the door is closing, saying "take my precious child
