Friendica 'circles' - how to set it up?
Okay, with a little help from my Friendicas, I’m learning about ‘circles', which seem to be user defined groups. You can add certain people to see certain posts.
I managed to create a circle called ‘Animation’, and when I click on it, I only see posts from friends who work in the animation industry. However, they might still be posting about their lunch—this isn't a group where people only discuss animation. For that, we’d need to create a group.
Unfortunately, I haven't yet figured out how to create a group that functions like a Facebook group. As soon as I do, I’ll let you know! (and if you know, please let us know!)
Attention: Be sure to refresh your page constantly, as pressing a button often doesn’t show any changes until you refresh! Sometimes, I even have to navigate to another page and return to see the necessary editing buttons.
- Click the F-button at the top center, then select the Personal tab. On the left, you'll see circles, with a few pre-made circles listed below.
- To edit your circles, click the pencil icon next to circles.
- To add a new circle, press the plus button that now appears next to circles, type a name, and press Enter.
- Click on your new circle and add friends from the list on the right by pressing the corresponding green + button. If these buttons don’t appear, refresh the page and click around until you can add friends to the circle.
