when you can arbitrarily designate anybody you don’t like as a terrorist, you will eventually turn everybody you don’t like into a terrorist

Life long American here. Trust me, we *have* gulags here. I find my nationality deeply embarrassing. Those recently tariff afflicted penguins have more honor than most Americans. We're the "good Germans" of 1933 reborn. We will pay dearly for our failure to stand up to fascism. The blood they spill will be on our hands. And don't for a minute imagine they won't spill blood. They've already started.

@LevZadov @martinmunthe I've yet to see an "enlightened centrist" or right winger take a stance against the carceral system. But have met a lot of far left anti carceral activists. It's such a non thing, I barely ever see any leftist pretend the USSR was a great thing that had no flaws, and the gulags were definitely a part of that. But that isn't an inherent quality of the framework of leftism at all, and it's so intellectually dishonest to pretend it is.

@powerword Somebody should write a history of TV screen photographs as record covers. (I bet it already exists.)
