It’s true. I’m retiring @fediversenews, and have created @fediversenews as its successor.
I used to post constantly to that #Friendica group. However, I am incredibly pleased with the moderation toolkit of #Piefed, so it only makes sense to use that software instead.
For those who don’t know, Piefed is a #Reddit-like platform – similar to #Lemmy and #Mbin – but I feel it has amongst the best community management tools of the federated Reddit-like platforms. So I am thrilled to be migrating an old community over to Piefed.
Oh yeah, and I’m looking for moderators. So if this interests you, let me know.

Welcome!
This community is the next iteration of @Fediverse News, which is currently a Friendica group that will be retired in a month.@Fediverse News is quite popular, and currently has 2.6K followers. However, I stopped sharing news on venera.social as I discovered that moderation there was quite difficult. Having tested #Piefed for the past month, I am thrilled to see that it has a more advanced moderation toolkit -- so this will be replacing the old community.
A big welcome to everyone who is current or past member of @Fediverse News.

RIP fediversenews! 🪦 Long live fediversenews! 👑
Interestingly, without the "!" it doesn't show up as a group in Friendica. It's a user that doesn't exist so there's no way to follow it from the tag. You have to click through then drop the url in search.
What do you find to be the biggest improvements in mod tools at piefed over lemmy?

in reply to Adam • • •The biggest problem with Friendica groups is that when someone replies to a group post, the group actor boosts all replies to people's timelines -- which proves problematic for people running microblogging software like Mastodon. This also makes popular Friendica groups highly attractive to spammers and trolls because they can say whatever in comments, and now 2.6K people are receiving those messages in their home feeds. It is also very difficult to remove comments and ban people in a Friendica group.
What I like about Piefed is that you can delete and edit anything in a community, ban people easily or unban them, review reports, mark reports as resolved / ignored. And most important, all those tools are easily accessible.
