@Binder Yeah, a certain GitHub comment also comes to mind. Wanting to leave IT is certainly a strong trope.

Long ago I learned the hard way to appreciate problems solvable with pencil and paper, compared to needing a computer! Anyway...

"A computer is all well and good. But to do any real work you need a kitchen table".

Also, I haven't owned a printer for 20 years. I hated them as a commercial programmer before I even owned my first, because files to be printed are more complex than any other type of file.

Don't know about buying a farm, but a a few acres and a nice garden would go a long way to keeping yourself sane. Commercial farmers are just folk who do what they are told 24/7 by customers or agricultural advisors who are often chemical salesmen.
On the other hand, growing your own food is like printing money.

Its not tech, its capitalism. People who build the fanciest shit can go on for their whole lives.

But slaving away your live for some dipshit with a huge inheritance ruins everything. Having to focus solely on the incompetence of others (support) or imaginary numbers (devops) is what drives people to hate tech.

We need to have a system that values actual controbution to society instead of arbitrary "profits".
