I’m not clear why Trump would care about releasing the Epstein Files:

1. Is he in the files? Yes, they’ve said so.

2. Did he go to Epstein’s island? In all probability. The White House has acknowledged him being on Epstein’s plane.

3. Is he a rapist? Again, yes. He has been accused by multiple women and found liable in court.

4. Is he attracted to underage women? Again, yes. He has admitted as much, multiple times.

What else is in there?

Various alleged facts are, incredible as it may seem in this light, actually much more shocking. For example, that he raped underage girls whom he knew had been trafficked for the purpose and were effectively teenage sex slaves, and abused them both physically and verbally.

It's also an image thing. A smart person can piece it together easily, as you note. But most of his supporters aren't that smart, and don't know all of this to begin with. A report can do that work for them.

Extortion. Blackmail. Forcing politicians to bend to your will or else the Epstein files are released. I think the sole reason for the Alaska nonsense with Putin was to hand his mentor the evidence of his rapes. There are a lot of powerful people who want this kept under wraps, and that's precisely what empowers a lifelong racketeer.

Every time a Republican demands the release the Epstein files & then suddenly backs down, it seems like a game of Clue (or Cluedo, I suppose).

I always end up wondering which "card" the person was shown that made them back down. You know, which person did they find out was implicated that made them decide "oh. It would suck for me if that got out"?
