Hi. Fed up with Zuck and FB. Looking at alternatives. Only been a member a few hours. Maybe I'll drop a pic here to see how things work... Huh. Drag'n'drop didn't work but I did find a way...
@wing lol! There are people, haha (myself included). But the more successful are the microblogging platforms like Mastodon, so that's where people go. That doesn't mean that you can't find content, thank god ActivityPub exists. But people are so used to writing just one or two lines of text and call it a day that they do not care about the alternatives.
Anyway, I don't wanna go on with this, but if you want to follow content, check out fedi.directory, the Friendica directory, some of the accounts on Flipboard that enabled federation or this list. I'm sure there are some more. If you can't find what you're looking for, but it has a website, it most likely has an RSS feed. Paste the website in the address bar and it will find it.
You'll likely feel yourself a bit overwhelmed with information, so add those contacts to circles to streamline your content.
I'm not new to the Fediverse, but I am new to Friendica. I wanted to check it out as well, and I like the ability to write a proper essay. When I discovered Friendica used BBCode I was quite happy, nothing I have used recently has had support for that. 💘
