Bluesky should go non-profit.
So should the Washington Post.
(I'd like to see it become a program of the Smithsonian Institute.)

hope they take advantage of the “meta situation” and grow

I came back yesterday and was delighted to see that the login process is easier for normal non techy users and many news sources are available either on mastodon.social or flipboard

@andresjabois It's my opinion that the Internet became 'bad' the moment 'non-techies' joined the fray. I'd be content if they remained excluded, because now it's a fucking nightmare.

They're using web hosting and CDN services, whose company is headquarter in California, USA.

Instead of pouring $30M into a rival of Bluesky, Free Our Feeds <freeourfeeds.com/> should give $5M to #Mastodon.

💯 !!!

And they are not talking about building a rival of Bluesky, but rather a second AT Protocol instance (relay) running Bluesky software. So, effectively helping build out Bluesky.

@ASegar I agree that Mastodon should get some amount but with Bluesky having a much larger and more active user base along with much easier sign up, discovery and better usability it only makes sense they should get the majority.
