When Mark #Carney took office as Canada’s new Prime Minister, many expected him to follow the well-trodden path of prioritizing relations with the United States.

But Carney had other ideas.

Carney’s strategy for 🇨🇦 is rooted in a bold vision: to transform #Canada into a global economic and security superpower without dependence on our neighbour to the south. Canada as a nation with the resources, expertise, and leadership to stand on its own.

@MikeImBack I hear you, Mike. I had a bunch of cousins move there in the 1970s so their kids are US-born and are now adults. One was shot at university in a mass shooting (he survived; it was NIU in 2009). I just wouldn’t feel safe there.
Would love to check out St John’s! Just checking out photos now, it looks incredibly pleasant.

Having been born and raised here in Canada, and having roots that go back to before 1900, I am very pleased with the prospect of relations with the EU. In my entire life, I have only traveled to the US a handful of times and have no desire to in the future. Other than some beautiful landscapes, I never truly feel secure there. Even border crossings are excessively stressful for no reason at all. (1/2)
