This might seem silly, but please keep posting about nice things in your life! There are lots of terrible things out there, so knowing about people's projects, successes, relationships, hobbies, nice meals, quiet moments of joy, etc. are lovely! I like knowing people are experiencing nice things, especially in a world that doesnt support that well.

I grew up in a village and thought I knew countryside stuff, got a surprise today though, my wife said to touch the tree we were parked near, it was a young silver birch and I was a little amazed because it felt warm and velvet like, I'd felt the bark before in its paper form but this felt like an animal of some sort, a really quite lovely feeling I carried for a while.

I’m on a mental & physical health break in Hawaii. Contemplate this sunset for a moment, as I did. The air is a perfect temperature, a soft warm breeze caresses your skin and the gentle lapping of the Pacific Ocean signals all as at peace in this corner of the world.

Georgiana Brummell reshared this.

This is as much a reminder to myself as it is to anyone else. I sometimes shy away from sharing nice things or things ive enjoyed, knowing that there are a lot of terrible things going on. However I also want to respect and celebrate the nice things as well, the things that exist outside of enduring hardship - and want to encourage others to do that too.

@dandylover1 that is what I'm trying to remember, not always successfully! I think there is an aspect of "time and place", but because there is a lot of "news" going on, and there are lots of folks struggling and needing help in the face of cruelty it seems like other things are "extraneous". However, to paraphrase a few great takes I've seen: those are what keep people going and the moments life should be made of, and we should celebrate that.

We made this happen a few weeks back: collfolkfestival.com/coll-conn…

Three days of music, sharing and laughter. It was so awesome we're going to do it all again next year
