We are all watching in horror as the United States democracy is dismantled into authoritarian rule, where the power of the written word in law and constitution has been overthrown by the primacy of action.

My fellow Australians, what can we do to ensure this type of hostile takeover never takes place within our government? The issue is not whether Liberal right-wing politicians are elected, the issue is the seemingly unchecked damage any politician can do once in power. Do we need an additional safeguard that can act quicker than the judicial system? A public vote of no confidence enforceable by law enforcement agencies?

Its sad to admit but Australia has the benefit of observing the US and learning from it. I think we should.
