@Miakoda @Sofia there was yast as installation program. You could choose FTP for install from a remote directory and update packets with ones from another directory. But i think the concept of an online server supplying actual packets for update was not known then. You could download the newer iso file, burn it to disk and update after booting that...

@sofia @arti Yast 2 is the shit, but I install with zypper. Yast/Yast 2 I use to config network stuff, NFS, and all that jazz.
I am not skilled in making those tbings work without it. I think Yast is how I bonded the two ethernets on my 4U. First time I ever successfully used link aggregation.
2gig in to the switch, 1gig per port out, streaming runs nicer when multiple people are watching. Can also load up big files to it without slowing down streams (except my own).

I've never seen it not have zypper. I ran it on my 4U starting in like 2021, maybe 2022. I had to switch to OpenSuse cause Ubuntu server had a major revision involving my RAID card. Omfg, soooo much data loss. I am STILL cleaning up from the catastrophe. I simply can't afford anywhere to put that many TiBs of data as a back up. So... RAID 5 and pray!
