Iron and Marble Guarding the Past.

Kapunda Cemetery, Kapunda, South Australia.

Kapunda is home to two primary historical cemeteries: the Kapunda Cemetery (the main town cemetery) and the St John’s Catholic Cemetery, which is located a few kilometres outside of town and carries a more somber, legendary history.

Kapunda Cemetery serves as a record of the pioneers who built the copper mining town.

A black and white photograph of a cemetery looking past a decorative black iron fence and a dark, mottled marble headstone in the left foreground. Beyond the fence, numerous upright tombstones, including an inscribed obelisk for Robert and Agnes Robertson, stand under bright daylight. A tree trunk frames the left edge, and the "Gardens of the Silent" watermark is visible in the upper left corner.
