I would like to continue using OpenStreetMaps as a navigation system in my car.
It was easy with my Google phone. Just buy Maps+ from OpenStreetMaps and it worked.
On my shiftphone with e/OS/ it's a different story. This starts with the missing play services (it doesn't recognize my purchase) and continues with the missing AndroidAuto Services.
Who can help?

in reply to Horst • • •Contacted support on what to do. The version downloaded via the Aurora store does not have the "restore purchases" button. Support suggested to download the nightly build (download.osmand.net/latest-nig…) but it did not help. Current status is that OSMand support asked for several screenshots and logs (logcat logs can be generated within the OSMand app).

in reply to Horst • • •What's "Maps+" in this context?
It's almost certainly not from OSM itself - which does not mean it's bad or something - just that it's likely some 3rd party app that uses OSM data.
Like they all could 😀

in reply to Horst • • •Just to clarify, it does not come from OpenStreetMap itself, but OsmAnd is a great community player for quite a few years 😀

But Android Auto itself doesn't work without Playservices.
For me, I have a solution without Android Auto:
Install a simplified Launcher from F-Droid. Set all the truely important apps for the car on the start page.
As we have a Renault, I can give Internet to the entertainment system and use HereWeGo.

in reply to Elischeva91 • • •@elischeva @cantences I also have a Renault (the 41 kWh Zoe).
I have to admit that I don't know what my Renault can do when it comes to apps. So far I have done everything with Android Auto and used OSM maps instead of Google Maps.

in reply to Horst • •Ours is an older Megane, still with fossil fuel. More like better than no car at all. Does Android Auto work without Play services?

in reply to Elischeva91 • • •@elischeva @cantences unfortunately not.
Even mirroring the screen does not work without Google.
So the only way seems to be using the phone only without the cars display. This really is a big disadvantage.
