The Long Calm and the Lord Has Taken Away.

Kapunda Cemetery, Kapunda, South Australia.

Kapunda is home to two primary historical cemeteries: the Kapunda Cemetery (the main town cemetery) and the St John’s Catholic Cemetery, which is located a few kilometres outside of town and carries a more somber, legendary history.

Kapunda Cemetery serves as a record of the pioneers who built the copper mining town.

A vertical black and white photograph of an historic cemetery. In the foreground, an arched white marble headstone dedicated to Eliza Evans stands behind a weathered stone base and dark cast iron fencing. The inscription reads "Sacred to the memory of Eliza, the beloved wife of Methusalem Evans, of Kapunda, who died Oct 28th 1884, aged 57 years". The background features dense, dark foliage and a tall tree trunk, with a watermark in the upper left corner reading "Gardens of the Silent".
