Holy crap! My whole house was shaking – the walls and everything!

Lasted for a solid minute!

I'm at a Bubble Tea café in Burnaby studying with a friend and our table shook for a minute. No one else at this café seems to have noticed!

So that earthquake was only 5.1 on the Richter scale.

Which is wild because I felt that one for quite awhile.

If that’s only 5.1, I don’t want to be here when it hits an 8 on the Richter scale.

How common are earthquakes in Vancouver?

I wonder if smaller earthquakes nearby are a sign that "the big one" in Seattle will happen soon.

@arnelson We’ve been having quite a few of them lately. Just last week, there was a 3.7 magnitude one near Victoria.

I've been in 7.5 earthquake before and it was disorientingly unpleasant. Luckily nothing fell on me or family and I would rather not live anything higher than a 5 anytime anywhere!

yes my first one scared the heck out of me as well... it's like nothing else, quite unreal...

@meshe I’m in Richmond, so that might be why I felt it for so long.

@meshe wow! I've never experienced anything like this since moving here!

@Chris Trottier Glad you're okay! People had such different experiences across the city! I heard it more than felt it in East Van. A bunch of friends said there was violent shaking. A friend who was downtown had no idea that anything had happened at all.
