I got more FT8 contacts today. I like that it's a mode where I can get contacts without having to remember what to say and how to say it. However, it does seem to lack the spark of getting to talk to a human over long distances radio-to-radio.

It's interesting looking at the signal exchange and wondering if there's anything I can do to improve my antenna and my signal going out (hint: there always is)

I also almost got W1AW in the log, but the exchange broke down halfway through and they moved on.

I find FT8 about as interesting as watching paint dry. I've had some good interactions with people on VarAC. I used JS8CALL a bit when I lived in Utah, but it seems pretty dead over here in Europe. I guess the main problem with digital modes is that there are too many of them, and most people seem to have migrated to FT8, though I cannot understand why.
