Photographers: How could I do this better? Aperture was wide open, focus on infinity. Bad decision. Foreground out of focus. Should I stop this down to f/11 or f/16 so I can focus on the first light and have everything behind it in acceptably sharp focus?

I'm interested to know whether other pinhole photographers think I should have increased the exposure to preserve more of the shadows in this shot.

I know that reciprocity failure causes the highlights to get more burned in disproportionately. So I just wonder if increasing the exposure would cause highlights to totally saturate.

Bison with bird passengers

Missed the focus. 500mm f/8 reflex lenses not great with dark subjects

If the bison stops what it's doing and looks at you, then you are too close.

Bull bison, Antelope Island UT

Shot with a Canon FTb and Rokinon 80-200mm f/4.5 zoom lens (bargain bin at Acme Camera Co for a few bucks) on Kodak Portra 160.

How's the bokeh?

About 100 yards away and still felt I was too close. Those beasts can move!

Does the crop help the composition? Wife's reaction to the photo was "meh". But I thought that improving the balance in the scene might help. What do you think?

Miner's house, Eureka UT

Image created as a three-frame composite of photos shot with a Yashica MAT 124 medium format camera on Ilford HP5+ film. Is that cheating?

The house sits amongst inhabited dwellings; some recent construction, some dilapidated trailers. A continuum from this old abandoned house to the present.

Havré framed by arch

I took a bunch of photos of this ruined castle with different cameras that day. The Minolta SLR was a €45 thrift store find that works perfectly. This was an entry level consumer grade camera in the 90's. But there's no way you'd figure it out from the photos.

This camera is supposed to be able to take 6x6 and 6x9 format photos by swapping out a cropping mask. Does anyone know how to do it? The mask seems stuck (?) on one side. Need help!
