Hi all. I’m Adam (adenoz), and this is my first time on the Fediverse.
I’m an Australian data professional, and I’m typically always working on at least one side project at any one time. I won’t be writing about my $work, but I will happily write about my various side projects and interests.
I really enjoy working with #duckdb and #ggplot2 as well as finding ways to use #rustlang and tools written in rust. I have a blog built with #zola where I’ll keep writing longer form things.
I like keeping up with global events and geopolitical related matters. I especially like combining those themes with data. Simple examples of interesting things include GDELT, news text like in Factiva, and Google Trends data.
At the moment, I’m writing a native mac app that will be a query and analytics studio. That’s

At the moment, Iβm writing a native mac app that will be a query and analytics studio. Thatβs all I have for now on that, though more will come in due course.
I like #linux, using #nushell and #HelixEditor, as well as the great software on #macos. My current favourite IDE is #zededitor. Sometimes (often?), Iβm torn between Linux and Mac for very different reasons.
Iβm now rambling, so Iβll stop there for now.

But you still understand the warning that a corporate "internet speed test" is a strip search by chimps?
The speed test that doesnt sell images of my underwear and bank pin # is not as useful at guessing my internet speeds.

in reply to Kevin Russell • • •LibreSpeed doesn't have a good selection for Ping for me either, but once you use it with a certain server, you can compare later to see if the ping has gotten worse. LibreSpeed was very accurate at telling my upload and download speeds.

Yes, I saw the post about the other information which is collected. It still makes no sense.

2021 was when Accenture pivoted from tech-aquisition to AI-everything. I'm not surprised projects from that year immediately died.

it downloads from 21 different domains not including the main one!

in reply to F4GRX SΓΒ©bastien • • •@f4grx For me, it doesnβt load a single third party script. The only script loaded is the primary speedtest.js which is obviously required.
All third party network calls just query the different servers to get the ping. The responses donβt actually contain anything.

I get your point, but it *is* a scary list

A text description of what they exactly do would be very welcome.
