#gameDev #photography #art

fedi.tips/ has lots of good stuff. Also you can try the "trending" and "live feeds" links likely to be in your sidebar. Also the #followfriday hashtag is a good place to look.

Hi,
Shameful self plug of myself, I do photography.

You can also look at people I follow, all are cool and most are photographers.

infosec.exchange/@Landsil/foll…

Also follow @catsalad , trust me on that 😂

you do have to follow a Catsalad account. It's FediLaw.

I recommend @catsalad (they post many awesome cat pics).

As there's no algo here, you gotta find your own people. Look at followers of followers. Lots of stuff gets re-toots and if you see something cool give them a follow!
Also using hashtags like #VideoGames is a great way to find new followers (and you can search on those tags too to help find more people) 😊

Welcome to The 'Verse!
(unfortunately we're out of Mastodon plushies, but we might have a toaster somewhere....) 😋

If you see an instance that looks interesting then you can see all the posts on that instance by opening up a browser and adding /public/local to its name.
E.g. gamedev.lgbt/public/local shows you posts from gamedev.lgbt and then you can see who's posting there and if you want to follow any of them. They are good folk though, you'd fit right in. Of course some people reply much more than they post but you'll come across them as well. Remember that you can turn off boosts individually.

hi (as a silly person). Also, it's probably best to be profligate with your follows to start (but many people expect you to have put a decent profile, so that they can decide whether to accept it) - you can unfollow/mute anyone later as you wish , no-one is offended. Look at other people's posts, and click on the id of those who post replies, and decide whether to follow them.

hi, artist here. This place is like the Old Internet, it's hard to find people at first, so it's worth having a look at who people follow to grow your initial cluster. You can always unfollow people if they're not the right fit for you.

It's a lot like gardening really, takes a bit of time to establish, but once it's as you'd like it then it mostly takes care of itself.

Hi, silly people are most of the Fedi.

As a newbie, you could try these:
social.growyourown.services/di…about.fedigroups.social/direct…jointhefediverse.net/?lang=en-…
You've got the hang of hashtags so good start.

Whole Fedi of instances, not everyone interacts with the instance you're on.
if you decide to move try mastodon.fediverse.observer/li…Lots of alternatives to Mastodon for microblogging plus photo, video etc software.

For a list of gamedev related instances (not sure if they all still exist though)

welcome! i suggest making a post with #introduction and some stuff you're interested in to get going 😛

i consider myself Somewhat Silly(tm), feel free to check out my account and/or @groupnebula563@cuddly.tube 😛

...shameless self-promo aside, search and hashtags are your friend. if you want more people to stumble across your profile turn on "feature me in discovery experiences" and "show public posts in search results" under settings 😛
