Ya know, there are a number of apps out there that boast being based on "blockchain technology", and I see friends flinch, 'cause they immediately see crypto bro's and all the problems they have seen with crypto currencies and scams and stuff.

I for one am pretty convinced that many of those apps really use an underlying technology, Merkle trees (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkle_t…) [^1].

But hey, "blockchain technology" has such a cool ring to it, wouldn't you say? [^2]
