Rant time:

It’s unbelievable that Windows 11 does not recognize that I removed OneDrive and ms Teams. After one simple update or reboot, it always comes back. The CPU is constantly running at 100%, and I don’t have anything open except for Task Manager. This laptop is less than 24 hours old, and I’m already preparing to switch back to Pop!_OS in the next few days. I knew that Windows was terrible, but even after de-bloating the OS, I don’t feel or see a difference.

@Randy
For everyone who is meanwhile on the start leaving MS Windows:

If you really want Win10 or 11 to shut up, MAKE it shut up.

@european No, I don’t want Windows; I haven’t used it for years, except at work. I’m happy with Pop!_OS. I know there are millions of things I can do to improve Windows, but it’s just not my operating system. If you have to tinker so much with an OS to make it a bit less CPU-hungry, then it’s not worth it.

Same shit different theme 🤣 besides a false requirement for tpm and secure boot... Even though they dont take secure boot security seriously since keys were leaked years ago and secure boot is trivially bypassed these days... They sure will make you throw out a perfectly good computer so you can run Windows10... i mean 11.... is there a difference besides enshitification?
in reply to Randy

Oh, it recognizes it, alright. Microsoft cannot "let" you go on without OneDrive and Teams! How would you properly function?

I disagree. This is absolutely believable, and the same type of predatory and abusive tactics that I’ve been dealing with from Microsoft for the last 25+ years as an IT professional.

@CyberSloth

I’m happy you have better experiences with windows. For me personally it’s the worse OS windows ever released.

But this is the beauty of it, we don’t need to agree, what works for you does not work for everyone 😉

in reply to Randy

No, I meant that I fully agree with you! Microsoft has been a pain in my ass for decades. I hate their predatory and abusive tactics and I switched to using Linux full time other than at work.

Ubuntu, mostly. It works really well for me. Compatibility is what I’m mostly after, and I like Canonical’s Ubuntu Pro service because it makes implementing security controls a lot easier. I also use Ubuntu server a lot at work, so I just stick with Ubuntu. It’s always been solid for me. What about you?
in reply to CyberSloth

@CyberSloth I use Pop!_OS on my laptop, and I have an Ubuntu cloud server. It works great; Pop!_OS looks clean and functions well right out of the box. At work, we use Red Hat.
