Trump is moving the USS Tripoli from Japan to The Middle East. On board is 5000 marines and MV-22B Osprey helicopters used for ground insertion.

This is exactly what you would do if you were planning to use your already available 50,000 troops for a ground invasion of Iran.

Update: Some reports suggest the actual number of troops is 2500.

Insertion ?

I think that the correct word in this administration is now ( check notes ) excursion .

It is an excursionโ€ฆ.

What Hegseth and his ilk just don't get:

The USA has so far been EXTREMELY LUCKY during this "excursion." One well-placed Iranian surface-to-ship missile - or a swarm of drones - could EASILY damage a crucial US Navy capital ship in the region.

Then it's tactical nukes to the punch b/c Grok/ChatGPT/Claude/whatever the fuck is behind Palantir's war-fighting software tells them to do ... which in recent wargaming, chances were as high as 95%.

And since Trump NEVER backs down ... ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
