"The idea that an organization that is an alternative host—for email, websites, and other services—could be designated a terrorist organization simply for providing a service that a lot of people want…is scary," EFF’s @jilliancyork told @reasonmagazine. reason.com/2026/08/27/rubio-us…

It would have been scary three years ago or so. In a corrupt kleptocratic dictatorship, this is just obvious.

"Terrorism" is just the new communism or heresy. It means nothing, other than the corrupt regime having a problem with it.
If you live in such a state and are not considered aligned with terrorism, you're part of the regime.

@yora Sometime in 2001-02:

me: "They're just going to call anything they don't like 'terrorism' and then they have free reign to ignore your rights now that you've given them that doorway with this stupid 'PATRIOT' act."

too many: "don't be paranoid"

What I didn't realize is that the people saying that totally knew what I was saying and were giggling to themselves that I was telling them this shit like they didn't know already thinking I'm all smart and shit.

@SCALETHEORY Yeah? When's that scheduled for? I mean, sign me up. But I've seen nothing about it.

You now why I've seen nothing about it? Because Americans are too farking lazy to do it. They're all waiting for someone to save them. Someone else to do the work. Shout a couple slogans, wave a sign, stamp their feet a little, then go home and do nothing. If hundreds of thousands were going to march on DC and physically overthrow Trump and his cronies, it would have already happened. No, they're going to just sit back, maybe yell about shit like this, and then just... continue doing nothing.

This is nothing new to me. That shithole country's diaper-baby president called me a 'terrorist' for simply being transgender, in addition to me not being a big fan of fascism.

Well, #NoShitSherlock, I ain't supporting a diabolical ideology that wants me, and anyone associated with me, DEAD!

This is especially true with me being on the interaectionality of me being both disabled and transgender. I'm the kind of person who would be genocided in WW2 Germany.

More scary, Italy and EU have not told Rubio to go delete himself.

WE NEED POLITICIANS WITH MORALS AND BACKBONES.

Joke's on the Administration. They mainstreamed crypto. Lol Just buy some on one of the pro-Trump, unregulated crypto exchanges like Coinbase or Kraken, then deposit said crypto into a cold wallet. Use said cold wallet to transact with banned entities labeled "terrorist organizations." It's totally untracable.

Imbeciles.

> A European bank, registrar or hosting company may not know precisely what American law demands of it. Its compliance department may simply decide that maintaining a relationship with a small Italian anarchist collective is not worth the perceived risk.

I mean we've seen this even with high level officials like the ICC folks who got their bank accounts cancelled after being put on US sanctions lists.

Reposting (an edited version of) what I posted earlier on this matter to Lobste.rs ...

This appears to be another case of having to defend the rights of a least attractive practitioner of those rights :/

A/I do in fact vet their applicants, and some of those applicants are in fact violent terrorists (e.g. the group destroying power infrastructure in Europe). They're certainly not a common carrier (to use the US term; unsure if there's a similar concept in Europe).

To be clear, I believe they are due the opprobrium they receive; but not the terrorist designation.
