We had a nice sunset where I'm at and I grabbed some shots of it.
These were shot through a Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm f3.5-4.5 FD-mount zoom lens on an EOS Rebel T3i and had a Kodachrome 200 sim applied to them.

These shots are using a Kodachrome 200 sim.
Thus far my bunny shots had been using a Polaroid PX-70 sim, but I started messing about with a K200 sim again.
These were shot on a Lumix GF2 with a Canon FD 70-210mm f4 zoom lens mounted to it.

We need less shows like Family Guy and more shows like KotH.
This is just my opinion after starting to re-watch my DVDs of the show because I'm kinda bored with web video content now, but we need more shows like KotH and less shows like Family Guy.
@DFX4509B (Joshua Mason) Family Guy may offend sensibilities but it does seem to have some predictive value, not as much as the Simpsons, but some. Personally, I love the running humor like Burns and the nuke plant or his dogs human headed puppies.
And also, to be fair, there are plenty of anime which have a similar chill vibe to KotH.
Lucky Star is one such example as far as I understand of it, as is Azumanga Daioh.

If Misskey published their MAU, I'm sure they would be in second, or maybe first.

@Alex@rtnVFRmedia Suffolk UK That's the same issue we have with Hubzilla. A lot of our users are privacy-oriented, and broadcasting statistics is off by default. The admin has to install an addon and turn it on. So a large percentage of Hubzilla servers are invisible to stats websites like this.
fediverse is great but I assume it's still susceptible to online safety act requirements? If governments demand people to use ID to get online?

currently most Fedi instances are below the radar of Ofcom UK, and this network doesn't have a large appeal to teenagers yet, and there are smart people including lawyers keeping a sharp eye on developments..

I once animated a whole game on paper, scanning images in, then using a pixel art tool to cobble together the animations all cause Krita can be measured in "crashes per hour" when doing anything related to animation.

@agreeable_landfall Not quite the topic, since my gear pretty much does what it is supposed to, provided it is charged and maintained right. 😀 As a traditional artist I just do tend to neglect both, which is 100% my mistake. 😁
As for the whole limiting the user: that can have great sides too, and provide a user with very little tech knowledge to have a device that makes their lives easier, instead of harder. 😁

I switched to the Lumix for these bunny shots.
Thus far I had been using my EOS for my bunny shots, but this time around I felt like using the Lumix.
I'm still using the same Canon FD 70-210mm f4 zoom lens on it though, as both cameras have an FD ring adapter so I can share my FD-mount glass trio between them. These were shot on a Lumix GF2.

Was just talking to a friend at a US technology company, they’ve had their budget reduced by 50% as the company says it wants to announce “the largest layoffs in US corporate history” to prove GenAI can replace jobs.
There’s no plan to actually replace the jobs with GenAI.. they just have to decimate their area.
Not naming company as the staff don’t know they’re about to fed to the line going up.

The vibe I'm getting from lots of people at lots of orgs now is, you know during Fyre Festival, that marketing dude was like "Let's just do it and be legends, man!" when challenged about issues.
That's the GenAI plan fundamentally. Lots of people are making decisions without really knowing what they're doing, because everybody else is doing it. FOMO marketing.
I suspect a lot of large companies are going to look like this in a few years:

TBF, I was probably already boycotting them for being American.
From my observations many (but of course not all) of the reductions have in fact very little to do with AI. It's just a convenient scapegoat, or it comes later, brought by whoever is left and trying to survive with same workload handled by a smaller team. Saying you're successful deploying AI and need less people as a result looks better than admitting overinvestments. Employees also often don't understand market conditions changing and their division numbers no longer adding up when the company as a whole has resources to invest into AI.
This rush to replace workers with a (coming any day now) amazing genAI system feels roughly like basing health care decisions on the assumption that a cure for cancer is coming next year.
It's like the way the Segway completely changed transportation in cities and NFTs forever altered the very concept of intellectual property.

@dsmasterson this happened to a friend of mine, and the fake account was selling porn. She was so freaked out that her boss at her important job would think she was selling porn she sat down with him to let him know what was happening. He was actually really supportive and told her he wouldn’t judge her if she had an only fans or something. She managed to get the account shut down but only because it literally copied everything off of her Instagram.
The only difference was that they used an uppercase I instead of a lower case L so the username looked exactly the same as hers.

Those that don't comply will be the minority, and both politicians and companies count on that - they will be eventually coerced into complying by being shut out of vital tasks, and eventually deemed criminals for being unable to comply with legally mandated government paperwork.

Because Discord was one single site with viable alternatives, so the market logic was still able to pressure them. This is an all-out attack on every single website at once, sponsored simultaneously by the government and the companies, and with actual criminal sanctions for non-compliance - boycotting will eventually become legally impossible. The only feasible remedy is to pressure the governments themselves to change the law.

back in 2021 when I wanted to get a Covid vaccine from the Rite Aid down the road from me the only way to make an appointment was with a Google account (and they didn’t take walk ins). There was no way I was connecting my Google account to Rite Aid even though I’m sure it’s all owned by Peter Thiel at this point anyway. I ended up going to the National Guard site at the dead mall.
There are also a whole bunch of businesses that don’t have Customer service addresses on their website, you can only contact them through Facebook or Twitter or Instagram, so I guess I just don’t do business with those businesses.

I really hope that politicians do not expect Mastondon to be able to use facial ID scans or upload other ID.
Mastodon has a very small dev team with no money to pay for ID scans.
Unlike large social media, mastodon instances are usually moderated with clear policies on what is unacceptable practice.

I am totally onboard with the idea of letting these accounts go dormant - but because these are dangerous services that steal your data, use it for the worst possible purposes and are becoming centi-billionaires doing it.

following! I need more positive fluffdragons in my fediverse. Also, I’m always happy to share pet pics (and see them too). My wife and I foster with the local humane society, so we usually have many furry friends to share.
These aren't pets strictly, they're backyard wildlife, but I love seeing bunnies hop around and carry on.
These four pics of a younger bunny in some what was at the time slightly overgrown grass in front of some irises are particularly cute, though.
All four of these were shot through an EOS Rebel T3i with a Canon FD 70-210mm f4 zoom lens mounted to it, and all four had a Polaroid SX-70 sim applied to them in post.

Thanks! And yeah, same here. Also, I'm into traditional art, with my fave subjects being Pokemon fanart or rodent and bunny art, although I have also dabbled in Hamtaro fanart in the past and most recently Sonic fanart.
My fave drawing media currently are crayons, oil pastels, and chalk, although markers and water-based paints such as watercolors or acrylics are really fun too. I don't plan on getting into oil paints based on the fumy solvents alone.
(had to narrow this down to four examples because of Mastodon's image limit, which, yeah, I'm on Mastodon, and Pixelfed too, for that matter, but I find myself spending more time on Friendica)

Man, this is fucked.
Just two months ago, we were all jumping for joy at Sora getting killed off, and now animators are doubling down on using AI in their stuff, one of whom, Jorge Gutierrez of The Book of Life fame, people are particularly pissed about. How the hell did we go from 'Yay, Sora's dead,' to this crap in two months?!
I'll never use AI in my own stuff, however, I mean for one, it's unethical to do so on multiple fronts, and two, I'm very much an analog artist to begin with as far as creating with real materials goes; digital of any sort just doesn't have the same sensory feedback as using real materials to create with.

I guess windows wouldn't have to be stamped (but they could, with sun/moon/stars/trees/mountains/Eiffel tower outside). And maybe you manage to carve a design that can be used both ways, "upright" and 180° reversed?

I guess windows wouldn't have to be stamped (but they could, with sun/moon/stars/trees/mountains/Eiffel tower outside). And maybe you manage to carve a design that can be used both ways, "upright" and 180° reversed?

I’ve been given the opportunity to work with a special needs kid one-on-one and I’m teaching him #BlackHistory through claywork. Last week we discussed the history behind Southern face jugs—who invented the form, what they signify and their probable roots in the Congo. This week, I brought him a jug so he could sculpt the face. This child who supposedly has attention & behavior problems focused on the project peacefully for two hours solid. #Clay is the way.
