I say this as someone who tried to be funded by random shits on LinkedIn
Green tinted corneas infected their thinking and dont care about the well being of others
They also always miss the point of free and open source
Which is why it's best to operate off donations of those who understand the well being of others

People struggling to eat and keep a roof over their heads do NOT have any leeway to fuck around with half-assed FOSS payment pet projects, risking their banks freezing up and fucking over their survival.
I'm actually passionate about FOSS and I still think one of the main reasons it's not more widely used is because people look at a lot of the proponents and think, "Damn, what an asshole."

people aren't hostile towards donating to web devs, most people just can't afford it.
for people that are actually in need of money, where they are actually about to lose their livelihood a lot more people make exceptions.
people are just conscious about where they're putting their money, the platform was never the problem.
