... that's a fun thing, but presumably someone could add code to stop the pointer exceeding, say, 60% of the total screen size, that would seem more than adequate...

I always hate crediting Apple, but on this occasion Mac got there first and somebody just replicated it for KDE, I think fairly recently. But the growth... Oh wow I've never seen that happen before! 😆
1) as pointed out by others, it's a #KDE Plasma feature. 2) the fact that it seems to grow perpetually on wiggling is a bug IIRC, and might be "fixed" in a newer version of Plasma.
