Mental Health Week A Call to Action: Bereavement, & Loss, What’s the Connection
At one point or another in our lives, we have all experienced bereavement or the loss of an important relationship. The feelings it invokes is a tough path to travel, especially as feelings of sadness and disconnection are difficult emotions to deal with.
As we continue through Mental Health Week in the UK, it is worth remembering that bereavement and loss of relationships are closely linked.
The death of a loved one can trigger feelings similar to those experienced at the end of an important relationship, especially when considering the emotional intensity.
Both experiences involve emotions like sadness and loss, which can make it hard to move on.
Always remember, it's okay to feel these emotions; in fact, this is part of your healing process.
As these become a major part of your life, they are chaotically rampant. At the same time, you find yourself battling with the well-known stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and eventually acceptance. Yet, the term ‘eventually’ is so untrue, as these stages are very much non-linear.
This is a very painful, and not so merry, merry-go-round, that in the midst of that pain seems endless.
In this confusion, it is not always easy to feel supported, even if you are surrounded by family and friends. However, finding someone to listen, hear, & see you, can help.
Mental Health Week is a reminder of a call to action. You are brave when you…
