With Bluesky's recent blatant transphobia, I guess it's time to try to reactivate this place.

I've recently finally been getting back to working on my model railroad layout, building two new plattenbau-style buildings. They are a plastic model kit from Auhagen, but it's likely I will end up making some changes.

I didn't actually realise from the manufacturer's website that one of the houses would be so yellow. Initially I thought I would simply lightly weather the houses (as seen above), as they're supposed to be relatively new on the timeline of the layout. However, once I put them on the layout as a trial run on where they might be placed, I noticed the yellow is almost the exact same shade as a building I already have on the layout. So I decided to repaint it in a more concrete-y shade after all.

Since the balcony side window-door pieces have premade decorative panels on them, I decided to paint them in yellow for one building and green on the other, similar to the plattenbau building I lived in when I first moved to Itä-Pasila, and it's near-identical neighbour.

Also, the balconies that come with the kit are not very fitting for the overall style of the model (pictures can be seen at the manufacturer's website), so I'm looking into making more stylistically fitting ones. Probably out of cardboard, since I don't really have anything more sturdy at hand I could use.

That's the progress so far. If this second jaunt here sticks, I will be posting updates when I make more progress with it.
