Finally getting started on another new project—neck warmers for my parents in law for Christmas ✨

I went the cheap route and got two 100% cotton bedsheet + pillowcase packs from a furniture store at 7€ each instead of looking for straight up fabric by the meter. This way I get a lot of fabric that's good for embroidery afterwards and some complimentary zippers. c:

So far I've just removed a zipper from one of the pillowcases.

Progress: First tube has been cut (1), sewn shut (2), and filled in sections with white rice (3).

Next is creating a second layer to make sure no squeezing causes rice to pop out of a seam, then a washable case with a li'l bit of embroidery and the aforementioned zipper reattached.

Fabric, lying flat, has been cut into a gentle hourglass shape, with the middle being just a few centimeters narrower than either end. The fabric is mostly brown with some flowery and leafy designs colored in with beige and off-white.
The fabric from the previous image has been folded in half and sewn shut except for one end.
The tube described in the previous image has been turned inside out, filled with rice, and sewn shut at various points along it to create small pockets inside so the rice won't all fall into one end of the tube.

Second layer created and secured! It is now functional.

I've decided to make the second one's inside first, then do their embroidered washable cases.

A long fabric tube is placed in a microwave. It's filled with rice. The fabric pattern is brown with beige and off-white flowery designs.
A selfie with the head cropped out to just show the neck warmer draped around my neck and over my shoulders. It reaches comfortably down to the upper-middle of my torso.
