Can anyone tell me how to create an open group where everyone can join on friendica? I looked at the guide at wiki.friendi.ca/docs/groups-an… but I do not have the "Create a new group" option ... or at the very least - I cannot find it ...

Can anyone explain to me how the connection between e.g., friendica and mastodon works? I have a mastodon account and also created a friendica account (on .world). To the best of my knowledge I have not connected my account on friendica with my account on mastodon. But in the "What's hot" feed on friendica I saw a post from one of the people I follow on mastodon. Is that just a coincidence? And I can also see a bunch of other posts from mastodon (that I do not follow). In fact, the majority of the posts presented to me in "What's hot" are from mastodon.

How are those posts selected? Are they posts that trend across the entire fediverse ... or?
