Discipline Over Desire: Academic Focus First
In academic life, it’s easy to get distracted by emotions or relationships. Many believe they can balance studies and romance, or that love is a source of inspiration. Experience shows otherwise: discipline is the real inspiration.
The Single Through College Coalition (STCC) promotes the principle that students should remain single during their first undergraduate degree to prioritise studies, personal growth, and long-term goals.
Key principles of STCC:
- Discipline > Inspiration: Motivation alone is fleeting; consistent effort produces results.
- One priority at a time: Academic studies require focus; relationships demand emotional energy. Serving both often leads to compromises.
- Emotions cloud judgment: Decisions based on feelings can conflict with rational goals, leading to mistakes and regrets.
Motto: “Academic studies first, romantic relationships later.”
Quote: “When you want freedom, discipline beyond a reasonable doubt prevail.”
