This is how modern oligarchs work. They don't burn books—they bury them in content. They don't silence the news—they reframe it as entertainment. They don't kill publishing—they make it appealing to a four-quadrant audience.

After all, it is just an opinion. Welcome in the factfree society, that is easily manipulated.

in reply to JA Westenberg • • •a mashup of "A Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, "1984" by Orwell, and a few other dystopian futures. Notably, none of them have happy proteins.
On the other hand, I am still waiting for my mashup of "Ghost in the Shell" by Masamune Shirow and "Blade Runner" by Fancher & Peoples. Those futures are equivalently dystopia, but at least they veer sharply away from colonial entities like Skynet and mainframe in I-Robot... even if a telepathic robot on Mars is kind of cool...

Think about that new mission statement... Not truth-telling. Not accountability. Not #democracy. Storytelling. It's a mission statement that turns #journalists into entertainers & citizens into #consumers."
