This Is Where I Leave You
I've been struggling to leave the classic social media for years... timelines that feel empty. Today I finally am out. No more algorithm trying to guess what makes me angry.
From now on, I only exist in the fediverse: slower, weirder, more human, a little broken in all the right ways. As a nerd who actually cares about how systems shape people, this feels less like switching apps and more like changing the physics of the little corner of the universe where I show up.
To exist only in the fediverse... now that’s a quest.

Now realizing just how destructive the Internet and the growth of ‘Almost Intelligent’ and their associated power hungry server farms are I struggle to remain connected socially at all. Every time I post, type, search, read my Kindle or draw on my iPad I am increasing my digital and carbon footprint contributing to the further destruction of the planet. I feel 90+ percent of Internet content is drivel. What I post doesn’t add up to a hill of beans in the scheme of things and who cares.
I am worn out with the bombardment of asinine adverts targeting the ignorant and those arrogant influencers who think they know everything. Capitalism and big tech have ruined something that had great potential. And the question is:
