🌙 African Night… and One Very Dramatic Mosquito
Yesterday evening I was sitting outside on the porch, enjoying the warm African night — quiet air, peaceful mood, perfect moment.
Then… one mosquito decided I was the chosen one.
Normally they barely touch me. Maybe one or two bites a day at most. But this one? Different story.
When I woke up this morning the bite already looked strange.
Now, 24 hours later, it has gone through a full color transformation — red → purple → darker → who knows what next.
Honestly, it looks like modern art at this point.
🤔 Ever had a mosquito bite like this?
It’s fascinating how something so small can cause such a dramatic reaction.
Nature: peaceful… but occasionally very personal.
Stay safe out there — even the quiet nights have tiny surprises.

Yesterday was a slow, quiet day in Moshi. Bad coffee in the morning, laundry done, and a walk through town in my Earth Runners — still new, but carrying memories from December walks with my daughter.
I wandered past Union Café into the park, noticed the last blooms on the Christmas Trees, and ended up at the Wishing Tree for a smoothie. Later, a small detour past familiar places, a stop at the corner shop, and an unhurried evening on the hostel rooftop.
Rice and beans for dinner, a shower, and bed. Simple, ordinary, complete.

This image was in November 2025 in Moshi. The Album will follow soon.
All afternoon I sat in a small café at the foot of Kilimanjaro, turning a simple table into my workspace. My daypack rested next to my laptop while I finished the blog post I had started yesterday. There was no air conditioning, just open windows and doors, and a steady breeze moving through the room, making the hours feel lighter and slower.
When it was time to leave, I found out the card machine wasn’t working. I searched through my bag and discovered I had just enough cash — enough to pay for the café and to pick up some street food for dinner on the walk back to the hostel.
The post is online now. I’ll see if it finds its way to someone who needs it.

watching the city move past me.
The last time I left Odessa was in February 2022, through the airport.
Since then, nothing feels the same.
If the war had never happened, I know I would still be returning — again and again — to this city that once felt like a second home.

Echoes of Odessa
Here are a few old photos from Odessa — a city I truly fell in love with during the first years of my travels.
I loved everything about it: the vibe, the streets, the beaches, the architecture, and the quiet magic hidden in everyday moments. No matter the weather, I walked. Every single day. Odessa had a way of pulling me outside, into its rhythm.
Many of those walks ended at Aroma Kava, where I’d sit with a cappuccino and a slice of cake,
Moshi, Tanzania – January 31, 2025
Yesterday, I was wandering through the streets of Moshi, letting curiosity guide my steps.
I decided to take a little shortcut through a quiet parking lot.
In front of the bus station office, a lone car sat in the middle, almost as if waiting for someone to notice it.
And there it was — something unexpected, resting right on its tire, quietly telling a story of its own.
Sometimes the smallest details catch your eye and make a simple stroll feel like a tiny adventure. ✨

Finally back at the hostel and feeling much better. I think the café air or low blood sugar got me while writing my blog post. A short walk and something to eat helped a lot. 🌿 #travel #blogging #tanzania #hostellife

Just about 30 minutes ago, I stopped by a place called The Wishing Tree. It’s a quiet little escape from the surrounding noise. They serve fresh, organic juices and smoothies, and I tried the Tropical — a real spark for my taste buds. I truly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the refreshing drinks.

This was in Kilifi a long time ago, and I still miss that place. I won’t be able to return, as I was banned from Kenya for life due to a corruption-related issue. While I can’t recommend going there, I have to admit that Kenya’s nature and landscapes are truly beautiful.

Today I registered on Friendica.world — I’m looking for a network that lets me post a fair number of photos per post.
The last few days I’ve been washing my bag and letting it dry. Today I moved into a cheaper place, into a dorm. In the photos, you can see almost everything I own.
Wishing you all a good night from Kilimanjaro 🌙
I’d be happy to gain some followers!
