Contrato firmado✅

Later I ejected them just to figure out which of the physical servers I was connected to. 😁
Alerta: mucho texto / Warning: This is a long text
[Eng]I'm going to introduce you someone...
As long as I've been on Fediverse, I have the necessity of showing this part of my life. For example: Now, I show in my profile bio what I'm not, because actually, I'm sure of this: I'm not a cisgender person and I'm not an heterosexual person.
I think this is a safer space than privative social media, so... I feel secure to show this part of myself...
I have two gender expressions. First one, the guy in yellow t-shirt, is Janik, my masculine identity, the person who rules this Friendica account. You know, the man who post here about IT stuff, memes, football terms, and comment with references.
The second, the girl dressed as a bride, that's also me, but "transformed" into my feminine identity, Erika. Now, when I mention her on my profile, I will do as "Miss E" nickname. Her full name is Erika Jannelly, She is extrovert, cute, lovely, feminine, likes wedding dresses, pink or light colors, and doesn't like wearing pants, preferring skirts and dresses instead. She likes female soccer (although she's a Club America fan😒), IT stuff, especially Linux, and admires Danielle Foré, the creator of elementary. But if there's something that Erika loves, is dancing, especially salsa and cumbia.
This situation of two gender expressions, makes me a transgender person, in the category of non binary transvestite (or crossdresser). That's because sometimes, when I'm Erika, I started talking with a feminine voice and mannerisms, but suddenly, I can change to my common masculine voice. So, effectively, I am Janik, but I am Erika too (reason for "two in one" text in my previous bio), depending of what kind of clothes, accessories and some corporal expressions I'm using at the moment.
My sexual orientation is bisexual. I feel attracted by women and men. I'm in process to accept me fully, but this is a continuous work on my person.
I had never expressed this publicly. I couldn't find the right moment to say this (I'm currently so nervous). If this revelation does not affect you, I'm glad to have you as a friend in this social network and, I hope, in real world😊. But, now you know this about me, if you feel uncomfortable with me, I will understand your further decision about this, including remove me of your friends or shutting down any form of communication with me.
If you want to follow me when I'm Erika, you can find some funny and serious stuff, pics and cute pink thoughts 🤭 at @Erika Jannelly Espíndola Mastodon account (She's enchanted with Mastodon, not like me, the Friendica guy).
Thanks for reading.
[Esp]Les voy a presentar a alguien...

Muchancho del subsuelo reshared this.

The way I like to think it, you can't stop racists from using free software, but it was never about stopping racists from doing things. (No really.) It was about racists stopping other people from doing things. Giving freedom to the people under attack by racists will always hinder the goals of those racists, more than the racists gain from having that freedom themselves. Any time we start talking about putting racists in camps, it reinforces the notion of putting minorities in camps. Free software, like all universal freedom, ends racism to some degree.
Or like, if evil people use your software for evil, without your software they'd be able to do that anyway, with software reserved only for evil people. As an example see Mastodon vs. Twitter.

If you have power to moderate a space and you don't use it to kick out bigots, you are handing them the power to kick out whoever they want.
You can't be "apolitical" about it.
You can't just not take a stance.
You can't be neutral.
If you make a space safe for bigots, you make it unsafe for everyone they're prejudiced against.

PS: You don't get to have influence and then decide you're not allowed to be criticized when you refuse to do the right thing with it. So if you really don't want the responsibility and would like to take the neutral path, there *is* one thing you can do:
Step aside and cede your position of influence to someone who will use it to make the moral choices that you're too cowardly to make.

@ebassi please stop spreading misinformation if you don't know the updated situation. I recommend you look at the recent accessibility merge requests in the foss ecosystem, especially when it comes to gtk, gnome, mutter and kde. If you did that before you spoke, you'll have realised that:
Things aren't perfect, there are lots of issues still, I use this system for a long time and I know them well. However, because of this, I'm also observing that in the last two years, more has been done than in the last two decades, so there's more than hope floating in the air. And if you have specific issues, why don't you talk to the devs about it? I know not everyone can write code, I barely can when it comes to those systems, but getting in touch with people and reporting bugs is the best way one can help, and it doesn't cost you much time. For example, the amount of time you spent on dragging all of the people who work on accessibility through the mud derogatorily and dismissively, you could have spent on identifying a single problem from the huge amount you clame to find, and then report it. Maybe something could have been done?
@Napo have you ever heard of "libertarian"? Its the ideology thats most strongly pro federation/ fediverse zerotrust, encryption; rights to modify reproduce and sell
its not fringe - "Open Source" was born out of libertarian thinkers.. we have a lot of common ground - common good is more important than poltical ideology
I would have thought racism would be incompatible with working with a globally distributed project or company. I'm not sure how you could work with people you think are inherently inferior. Yet I've seen it a few times.
Luckily those attitudes haven't lasted long: either the person moves on or changes their views.
thanks for that! ♥️

Resistance can be as simple as using certain terms:

"online search" instead of "Google Search" (or "do a search" instead of "google it".)
"music playlist" instead of "Spotify playlist".
Do not give these company any free advertising by using their names.
Do not make them the default term for something.

Imagine if google lost the rights to the word google

Or do refer to it as Googling, but explicitly when you use a different search engine. Say things like ‘Google it on DuckDuckGo’. When a trademark becomes a generic term, it stops being a trademark. If everyone says ‘Google it on Bing’, Google becomes an unenforceable trademark.

I don't use any streaming service. I occasionally find music on YouTube, download it, convert it, and add it to my own library.
(Granted, I don't tend to listen to top 40s or pop music.)
If it's on YT, it's a "YouTube video". If not, it's a "wherever-else video".
If it's on Spotify, it's a "Spotify playlist". If not, it's a "wherever-else playlist".
When I use identifying names, I literally mean them. I will cop to being guilty of using "google" as a generic verb sometimes, though. I either need to stop that or commit to the genericization whole-heartedly.
Also, can we please stop putting Linux in the position of a victim?
Everywhere I look people say "Linux is a Windows alternative" or "Linux is an alternative OS".
No. It' not "an alternative". Linux *is* an operating system.
When you call it an "alternative", you make it sound like there's the real OS, which is Windows, and then some weird off-brand copy for nerds, Linux. That's ridiculous.
Yeah, Windows has the market share. So what? That doesn't make it better. Linux isn't worse, it's just not backed by billion-dollar marketing. It's stable, secure, customizable, it actually respects the user.
And let's be honest: Windows isn't the "just works" miracle people think it is. It "just works" because it's what everyone has been forced to use since childhood. Windows came preinstalled on every computer you ever touched, and now you think it's the default because it "just works". You were never given a choice. It was chosen for you. And now we call everything else an "alternative". That's not because Linux is worse. That's because Microsoft made sure you never saw anything else first.
I'd be fine with this if Microsoft positioned Windows as a superior, premium commercial-grade OS, something you deliberately choose for professional reasons. But they don't. They market it as the default home OS, while charging for it. And somehow, the free and open one, the one that actually gives you control over your system, gets labeled "an alternative".
Isn't that backwards? Usually the free option is the default, and the paid one is the premium choice. But here, the paid OS is "normal" and the free one is "alternative". What kind of logic is that?
So, no. Linux isn't an alternative. It's an Operating System. It's the choice you make when you actually want to own your system instead of renting it.
Stop treating Linux like a second-class citizen. Windows isn't the standard. It’s just the one that came in the box. There's a big difference.
