Hey, Tom Masz here. I'm from Rochester, NY (the best Rochester), which is in western NY state on the south shore of Lake Ontario. I teach Software Engineering at a local university but I spent many years working in local industry. Married for over 40 years, two successful kids.

I've been a Unix (and then Linux) user since 1984 and a Mac user since 1985. I'm a supporter of open source and the fediverse.

I'm a photographer, using both digital and film. I've gotten back into developing my own B&W and I shoot 35mm, 120, and 4x5 using a variety of cameras. You can find my photography on pixelfed, photog.social, and on Bluesky (among other places).

I play guitar (though not well) although I have extreme stage fright and don't play with or in front of others. Maybe someday.

I make my own beer and cider. I was into sourdough before the pandemic.

I'm proof that not everyone grows more conservative as they get older.
