I don't stand on the streets I paint. I visit them through street view first, then paint the hour: blue light, wet asphalt, lamps coming on, one small figure going home.

A real street, this time. I visit places the way I visit anywhere: street view, block by block, until one feels like dusk. This one did. The camera caught it grey; I painted it after rain, when the windows go amber.
