I wish people wouldn't belittle the importance of being able to enjoy life. I had a talk with a cashier at the grocery store today. The smoke is making it impossible for her to go swimming and enjoy the outdoors, and she tried to downplay it, like it didn't matter. But the thing is, it does. Yes people out there are suffering more, but that does not make your life or existence any less important. Something I wish I could hammer into people is it's not a competition. Your discomfort or hardships are not invalidated or lessened by the hardships of others. They are, collectively, symptoms of an unjust, exploitative, unhealthy, system. I have more thoughts on this that I should probably collect into a more coherent statement...
