My name's Dave, and I'm a recently-retired tech manager. I've been collecting quotations for about 55 years, since college -- first in a commonplace book, eventually in a somewhat repurposed WordPress blog (wist.info), which I now operate as a canonical reference source. The number of quotes there has grown to about 24,000 now, which is small beans compared to the big quotation mills on the Internet ... but I don't go around scraping other sites to pad my numbers. Each quotation I post is personally curated, researched for citations (with links to same when possible), and individually posted.
As an amateur historian, I feel very strongly about citing quotations: to provide context, to provide references if someone wants to use it academically, and sometimes to actually prove the quote is actually real (or not).

I add (or update the research on) several quotations each weekday. While my main site, at wist.info, runs on WordPress, I use Friendica and its links to the other parts of the Fediverse, to re-post the contents in a more interactive environment. I provide the quote, the author, and some basic citation info; additional notes, links to the source online, and often alternate translations for non-English originals, can be found on the linked WIST site entry.
Follows and boosts and favorites and likes are always welcome, as are comments (and corrections). It's good to get some feedback, even passive, from The Great Void That Is The Internet.
