Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl - We Are Not The First

The other day I was having a conversation with a mate about Shabaka Hutchings and Hieroglyphic Being came up. I was sure I had one of their albums on CD, and it happened to fall into my grasp the other day without me even looking for it.

A mate sent me this when it came out, some ten years ago now. This was the time when (in this house at least) CDs were no longer being played as albums, and would get ripped to the PC hard drive and thrown into the mix to duke it out with how ever many thousand of other files were competing for shuffle time. Looking back, this was a crap way of listening to music. There is a parallel with the organisation of society in general here, which I won't dwell on.

At least any vinyl acquisition was guaranteed at least one play before being filed away.

This is a shame for me because it meant I missed this one and the last ten years would have been enhanced by its occasional appearance. It makes me wonder what other decent albums are sitting unappreciated in my CD collection.
