See you in the morning down by the jetty
Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty
On the rear of my right forearm, I have a Dr. Feelgood tattoo – you know, the face logo. Every once in a while, a middle-aged man with a British accent will come up and say, “Nice Dr Feelgood tat, mate!” or something similar. They mean an awful lot to people of a certain demographic. A colleague at work’s (now ex) husband has the same tattoo on his shoulder.
Now, Dr. Feelgood went through a lot of lineup changes, and are still touring today, and they’ve released a lot of records. None were better than this line-up and this album though.
They somehow managed to be an R&B covers (plus some originals) band who elevated that, by sounding, looking and acting like no-one else, ever, to become one of the pillars upon which punk-fucking-rock was built.
Occasionally, people who have no idea who Dr. Feelgood are will ask me what that tattoo is on my arm. When I tell them they go “Oh” and leave with the impression that I’m a massive Dr Hook fan.
Tinselwig likes this.
