Consider we need the way we can continue
Civilization is not for us to stay with. It is all coming down with a collapse, soon if it is not just later on this century. It will still happen. Why not already be living in the way people can always go on living in the world, though the numbers will necessarily come down? Getting to that way apart from civilization without depending on it still can give time for any of us doing this to have everything there more comfortable, and be doing well enough far away enough when collapse really does come. We should get going, remember collapse could be soon.
