I see from your bio that you had a Gopher server. I am not anywhere near that cool, but I was a user. I had a chance to meet some of the developers for an introduction.
It was Gopher that was cool. So fast on nothing of bandwidth. And I like the basic layout baked in the pages.
But the end of native support of the main web browsers was the real dead-blow for Gopher in my opinion. Asking users to install very special Gopher-browsers who are clunky to view Gopherspace is to much to ask.
There is also something interesting, LoRa, very low powered datatransfer over radio. Just maybe a sort of Gopher could be run over LoRa connections. As a sort of emergency distributed internet.
